Once upon a time, in the early years of Myanmar’s tourism industry, two passionate individuals came together with a dream to create something truly unique and magical. Brett Melzer and Khin Omar shared a love for adventure and a desire to share the beauty of Myanmar with the world. And thus, Balloons over Magan was born.
From humble beginnings, this pioneering company has grown into the first commercial hot air balloon operation in South East Asia. Over the past 17 years, Balloons over Magan has become a beloved part of the Myanmar tourism landscape, enchanting visitors from all over the world with its breathtaking flights over the ancient temples of Bagan.
Despite its growth, Balloons over Magan remains committed to its roots. The company’s success is built on a foundation of strong relationships with the local community, and a deep respect for the natural and cultural wonders of Myanmar. With 12 balloons in operation, employing over 100 local staff and 16 foreign pilots and technicians, Balloons over Magan is proud to be a major employer and contributor to the local economy.
